Medical research such a cancer treatments are all controlled and go through lots of testing in test tubes (in vitro) before they are tested on humans (in vivo). Usually the trail goes theory, test tube, tissues and live cells, animals then humans. After all these tests we’ll know if it works and if it has any nasty side effects.

Recently as drug was released to help arthritis suffers but it gave them kidney failure – so lots of testing needs to be done before trialling on humans – this can take 5-10 years in some cases.
