Another very challenging question. I’m impressed.

It may be possible in the future, but not at the moment. Scientists may find that it’s not possible at all. They’re not sure. But, I would welcome a TV that could make chocolate!

It all centres on an equation put forward by Einstein (E=mc2). This equation tells us that energy and matter are interchangeable. Matter is anything made from atoms. So, in theory, we could change any solid object or person into energy, and then back again.

If you’ve every watched Star Trek (my favourite TV show) you will have seen the transporters beaming people to different locations. They convert the matter in a person into energy, and then move the energy to a different place and change it back to matter, and the person re-appears.

Also in Star Trek, they use something called a replicator. This is where energy is converted into an object or something to eat. This is like the Willy Wonka television. If we could convert energy into matter, we could make anything we liked including chocolate!
