• Question: is the moon actually made of chesse

      Nope, it’s made of rock! No idea where the stories of it being made of cheese came from. Anyone else know?

      Rock unfortunately. If it was made of cheese them you could bet that Tesco’s would have mined it already 🙂

      Hi paigechristina, as Judith and Chris have pointed out it is made of rock. I think the reason people started saying it was made of cheese has something to do with the way it looks. when you look at the full moon it has what look like large ‘holes’ in it (like swiss cheese) but these are in fact large craters on the moon surface and the way the shadow falls on them make them look like the holes in cheese. So perhaps that’s why people started saying that it looks like cheese.
